Rounding Times and Amounts for Tuition Rates

Rounding Times

Round Times tells Jackrabbit how to charge for each minute on the clock. A student might be expected to clock out at 6:00 but not check out until 6:02. How should we treat those extra 2 minutes? Charge for them or not?

Next will always round up to the next time increment entered.

Example:

  • Rate rounds to Next 15 minutes
  • Clock Out time is 12:01
  • Student is considered "out" at 12:15 for billing purposes

Nearest will round either up or down, depending on which value is closer to the time increment entered.

Example:

  • Rate rounds to Nearest 15 minutes
  • Clock Out time is 12:01
  • Student is considered "out" at 12:00 for billing purposes

Rounding Amounts

Round Amount tells Jackrabbit how to calculate the final charge when there are uneven dollar amounts in the total amount to be billed. The total amount might come to $211.12 based on billing, but you only want to charge an even dollar amount.

Next will always round up to the next dollar amount calculated.

Example:

  • Rate rounds to the Next 1 dollar
  • Total amount to calculated is $211.12
  • Student is billed $212.00 based on rounding settings

Nearest will always round either up or down, depending on which dollar amount is closer to the total amount calculated.

Example:

  • Rate rounds to the Nearest 1 dollar
  • Total amount calculated is $211.12
  • Student is billed $211.00 based on rounding settings
