Locations in Your Jackrabbit Database - What Are They?

Locations in Jackrabbit are used to separate business activities. They can be used to denote physical locations, to split transactions for partnerships, or to represent different programs operating in the same facility (as examples).

All information (Families, Students, Classes, Events, etc.) is assigned a Location in your database. A minimum of one Location is required and is added to your database when it is first created.

You may only want to use one Location for all of your business activities or you may have different physical locations or company divisions that you want to report on separately. You can have as many Locations in your database as you need!

Example - Different Physical Locations

Jackrabbit has two physical locations in which they operate, one in Davidson, NC and another in Huntersville, NC.

Their Jackrabbit Locations may look like this:

Example - Different Divisions Operating in the Same Facility

Jackrabbit has two divisions that operate from the facility, Jackrabbit Education and Jackrabbit Support.

Their Jackrabbit Locations may look like this:

Both Families and Classes are assigned a Location within a Jackrabbit database. All revenue is organized by the Family Location by default. Example: Fees are posted to a family whose Location is EDU for tuition fees for a class that is assigned the SUP Location. The fee is then paid. When running revenue reports, this revenue would be found under the EDU Location.

The Revenue Summary report offers the option to report on revenue based on the Location of the class.
